SHOULD HEAVIER PEOPLE PAY MORE ON FLIGHTS ?

Most people are heavier by choice(eating too much and no excersise) so why should they pay the same seat price as a lighter person ?. A smaller person will pay extra on baggage weight then sit next to a heavyweight, where is the justification in that ??? the other person is 4 times heavier. The genuienly poorly of course being excused the excess weight charge.

Should heavier people pay more on flights ?

Yes, because... Weigh them with their baggage.

If the passenger was weighed with their baggage this would be fair and easy enough to introduce and maintain.Purchasing a ticket on line would be a basic charge and subsequent to final weigh in. There would be no favouritsm to fat folk as no one knows until day of departure, and flights are subject to weight so to fill it with fat folk plus overweight baggage would create problems, not to mention the aircrafts needing larger seats to accomodate them, therefore less seats installed. I think the idea of charging passenger weight a good idea plus an incentive to lose weight.

No, because... Over all bad idea

Bigger passengers require bigger seats and bigger seats mean less seats.Build bigger aircraft to acommodate this for the sake of the fatties ? Gosh with bigger ambulances and beds and doorways everywhere and stronger nurses and care workers to manouver them and bigger mortuary freezers etc etc its never ending. Just loose weight (there were no fatties at school up until the 90s) its not rocket science its idleitis.

If the heavier person is charged more for said flight, chances are, the air-line would be making more of a profit off of a heavier person. I understand why you think heavier people should be charged more, but logically speaking, the airline would see a larger benefit in selling the tickets at a higher rate for heavier people. In turn, the smaller people may be rejected tickets because they'd now rather sell to the heavier population. besides, have you ever been to an airport? Security Checks are bad enough (with reason). We don't need them to make you step on a scale to properly sell a ticket at price X instead of price Y. And what about buying tickets online? "Enter weight here:" and people are gonna be honest? And how do airlines check for that? And what if you gain/lose weight between when you bought the ticket and when youre at the airline being "weighed" to make sure you paid a proper amount? Heavier people shouldnt pay extra because it'd change the business perspective of flying and create horrible system on top of systems already complained about.

bad idea....
